Unibloom announces latest annual carbon footprint report, maintaining alignment with SBTi targets and Pledge to Net Zero

At Unibloom, although we are consistently banging the drum for businesses to move beyond carbon accounting and into collaborative action, it is of course essential to conduct your carbon footprinting. Today, we’re sharing the results of Unibloom’s latest carbon footprint assessment and some of the steps we’re taking as a high growth business to ensure that we maintain our scope 1 and 2 emissions at current levels and continue to focus on working with SBTi & BCorp aligned businesses within our Scope 3. Unibloom has also committed to Pledge to Net Zero, and share our commitment and progress towards that. We encourage all companies to commit and act now, to de-risk your future business operations.
Unibloom had the science-aligned goals approved by SBTi in September 2024 focused on maintenance of zero emissions in Scope 1 and 2. Over the past year the total carbon footprint was 47.6 tCO2e, which was 100% scope 3 emissions, 92.2% of which was from Purchased Goods and Services.
This was higher than the 2023 baseline of 19.2 tCO2e. This was driven by significant growth in the team and requisite investment into data and software solutions to support the growth of the business.
As Unibloom continues to grow this year, we’re doubling down on our commitments by taking a closer look at our supply chain. The key focus for 2024 is conducting a comprehensive supplier assessment to identify opportunities to work with partners who share our values, offer low-carbon, and high impact climate solutions . Specifically, we’ll be exploring ways to transition away from suppliers that aren’t yet aligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in favour of those that are actively working toward verified emission reduction targets.
We recognise that the challenges to take Scope 3 action are significant for primarily digital, high growth businesses given the perennial challenge of influence on suppliers in the sector. We wrote about this in our ‘Addressing the challenges and opportunities of Science Based Targets for high growth businesses’ white paper last year.
Whilst we continue to focus on action in our business we will of course continue to focus our biggest impact on empowering businesses to build digital & adaptable climate transition plans, supporting them to speed up the process of going from reporting into action across all departments. Our focus is on empowering businesses through access to real-time databases of globally trusted secondary emission, cost and nutrition data, and simulating & comparing new low- carbon and climate impact solutions with automated modelling.
To find out more on how we empower digital and data- driven cross-functional collaboration, and avoid months of manual work and delays in decision making, read our guide on how to take climate action planning to the next level here.
