Unibloom has signed a design partnership with Unilever to help their meat business faster & better collaborate & simulate new innovative financially viable and scalable climate solutions with suppliers & customers in the pork industry

Unibloom has partnered with the leading sustainability food giant Unilever, specifically with their food business in the Netherlands, to pilot Unibloom’s data-driven real-time simulation & collaboration tool. The tool is designed to transform & simulate complex emission & cost data into actionable, financially viable sustainable climate & business solutions and collaborate in real time with suppliers, customers & internal cross-functional teams.  Unilever will focus on the pork industry to start out with. This collaboration aims to combine innovative ideas with scalable implementation, creating a solid, adaptable pathway to Net Zero.

Ida Wahlfeldt, General Manager Nutrition Nordic & Net Zero Director, explains their challenges on finding specific innovative solutions to reduce impact on their hot spots and ingredients in the pork process: “We’ve done calculations & idea simulations, but want to validate accuracy of our ideas, capture new science based innovations and benchmark with the industry. Transparency is an issue in the industry, and sometimes we are relying on industry averages of emission data. We teamed up with Unibloom to test their simulation tool and get data- driven & science based guidance to evaluate accurate data, scenario models and navigate innovative, scalable business solutions faster, better & cheaper.”

Design Partnership

Design partners get an opportunity to share learnings and learn from the Unibloom LCA & Science based innovative solutions expert team and can test and influence the platform which model & scenario optimise innovative solutions and simulations of both cost and climate in one place. This platform connects Capex, Opex, and financials to climate targets, enabling Unilever to create and visualise different scenarios over time and link to their climate targets. The result is data-backed insights and science-based solutions that are ready for scalable implementation.

“Unibloom’s platform will allow us to visualise scenarios and understand their financial and environmental impacts immediately. This integration will help us identify the best science-based solutions and make informed decisions,” Ida Wahlfeldt explains.

Scaling regenerative agriculture already, pilot program for low carbon meat

Unilever is already scaling regenerative agriculture globally but for the pork industry specifically, they want to find new innovative solutions for low carbon meat. “For the pork industry, we want to experiment but also find high-impact, cost-effective solutions that can be scaled faster,” said Ida.

This design partnership helps innovation, procurement and Net Zero teams collaborate faster on sustainability goals, focusing on data-driven, cost-optimised solutions and investments to reduce emissions and achieve Net Zero in the pork industry, while supporting low-carbon meat development.

Unibloom's CEO, Anna Sandgren: "I am impressed by how seriously Ida & her Net Zero Squad including the innovation team takes the low carbon meat, aiming for new science based innovations to reach their climate commitments on time within the pork industry. We are proud to offer our predictive, collaborative, and science-based simulation tool, enabling them to make transparent, data-driven decisions across innovative solutions, evaluating both cost & climate impact, and confidently allocate capital and resources to the right project, every day.
