From Day One: Innovating together for a better tomorrow

When I started on the journey with Unibloom, together with my co-founder Vineet and the support of our first investor and big supporters at Zinc VC; Ella, Paul, Ellie, Luke, David and many more, it wasn’t just about building a company—it was about addressing an urgent problem we could no longer ignore. Businesses around the world face mounting climate pressures, yet many are still stuck in the past, relying on siloed operations, outdated data, and processes that make meaningful innovative climate collaboration nearly impossible.

The result? Missed opportunities, higher costs, and slower progress toward achieving the net-zero future we all need.

We’ve all seen the headlines—from the rising cost of inaction on climate change to the growing regulatory demands under frameworks like CSRD and SBTi. But beyond the news, there’s an unspoken truth: businesses often want to do better but don’t have the tools to make it happen. That’s where Unibloom comes in. From day one, our mission has been clear: empower companies to align their climate goals with their business strategies in a way that is simple, actionable, and impactful.

Looking ahead to 2025, I see an opportunity to take this mission to the next level. To truly meet the challenges of today and tomorrow, we need a step-change in how businesses approach collaboration, business strategy, and everyday decision-making.

Breaking silos to build bridges

For too long, departments have worked in isolation, with sustainability teams disconnected from finance, procurement, and operations. This has to change. The problems we’re solving—whether it’s reducing emissions, optimising costs, or transforming supply chains—don’t live in a single department. They require cross-functional collaboration powered by shared, real-time data. In 2025, we’re doubling down on breaking down these silos, creating a unified platform where teams can collaborate digitally and focus on the future instead of being weighed down by the past.

Turning data into decisions

At Unibloom, we’ve identified a critical gap: businesses need forward-looking, innovative ways to solve climate and sustainability problems in a financially viable way. That means moving beyond static climate reports, scattered data and spreadsheets to embrace automated, predictive tools that make decision-making faster and more precise. Our digital tool integrates solid data from agriculture, nutrition, emissions, and costs, empowering teams to compare strategies digitally before taking them to suppliers.

Imagine the power of walking into a supplier or customer meeting with clear, data-backed scenarios to discuss and compare various journeys of the plan towards future Science Based Targets & financials, and shows exactly how your various scenario proposals benefits both the bottom line and the planet.

The cost of inaction

The Financial Times and the World Economic Forum have both sounded the alarm: the cost of inaction on climate is immense. Delayed decisions today translate into higher costs and lost opportunities tomorrow. But what if businesses didn’t have to wait? What if they had a platform that not only quantified the risks of inaction but also showed them the way forward? At Unibloom, we’re building exactly that—a solution that turns challenges into opportunities by giving companies the tools to act with confidence and clarity, everyday.

Innovating for scalability

One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is that new climate solutions must be feasible, financially viable, and scalable. But before getting there, all ideas and solutions needs to be calculated, modelled out & compared and lastly present the scenarios to leadership for decision-making. This usually happen with 20-30 pages in slides, spreadsheets and back and forth emails. Many times those insights get cut to 3 minutes at the end of the leadership team meeting, and decision gets postponed as the climate business case was not presented fast enough.

By combining digitisation, automation, and in 2025 optimising some of the more manual workflows with new technology to speed up the narrative of the insights, guidance of the scenarios but also automation of responses to CSRD and CDP, we’re creating a platform that effectively leverages vast amounts of data. This significantly reduces the time needed to set targets, access accurate data, plan, model and compare solutions—cutting the journey from strategy to implementation by months or even years.

Our vision is to deliver an innovative, future-fit digital tool that empowers sustainability managers, operations and leadership teams alike. It’s designed to work across departments, the value chain, and the full food & consumer goods industry to start out with, enabling businesses to adopt financially viable sustainable practices at speed, and identify the right subsidies when available. By accelerating insights, aligning resources, and unlocking budgets faster, we help companies overcome barriers and drive meaningful action.

A personal note: Grateful for 2024 & a kick-start in 2025

This mission is deeply personal for me, having spent almost 20 years in the food and consumer goods business, where I had to balance people, planet, and profit decisions at Ben & Jerry's & Seventh Generation every day. I’ve seen firsthand the challenges businesses face when trying to align their climate and business goals, in manual spreadsheets, 100's of emails and chasing suppliers back and forth without being more insightful. But I’ve also seen what’s possible when we have the right tools and insights. The world doesn’t need more barriers—it needs more bridges.  That’s why Unibloom exists: to make sustainability not just a possibility but a financially viable business reality—the only path forward for businesses to maintain their license to operate in the next five to ten years.

I’m deeply grateful to the team at ScandiStandard, who are leading the charge in the chicken industry by tackling feed—the biggest emissions hotspot—to reduce emissions while keeping animals healthy. Their commitment to launching Unibloom across several departments and empowering leaders like Ida, Linnea, Henna, and Clara to lead the charge towards 2030 targets, is inspiring.

Thank you as well to the bold team at GoodPop in the U.S., showing that business growth, BCorp and climate choices can go hand in hand as they shape the future of low-carbon juices and efficiency in transports and processing. And to Unilever’s Unox business, which is driving innovation in low-carbon meat with data-driven strategies for feed mixes, waste reduction, and manure treatments—closing the gap to 2030 with support from partners like Blonk and their database Agri-footprint.

Finally, to Cloetta and their ambitious SBTi-aligned actions, and to the Unibloom team and all our partners, whose dedication to databases, complex modelling between financials and emissions, animal welfare and customer-first development ensures every decision we support is cost-effective and impactful—thank you. Together, we’re proving that sustainability can be simple, actionable, and scalable.

We wish you all a very happy holiday and an impactful New Year!
